Job Description

The purpose of this job is to support, direct, develop and execute Pilot Company’s ("Pilot") real estate & development activities.

Must be located in the greater Knoxville, TN area.

  1. Oversee & Support all of Pilot’s Miscellaneous Real Estate Activities including but not limited to property development entitlement, purchase and sale agreement negotiations, lease negotiations, additional property acquisitions, surplus property sales, right-of-way & easement acquisitions, lease renewals and landlord relations.

  2. Oversee the Development -Site Selection process, including property identification and location analysis, for new travel center development for a specified area of the country.

  3. Participate in strategic planning activities related to growth of Pilot’s travel center network.

  4. Negotiate and review legal documents with real estate team members prior to submission to Pilot’s legal department.

  5. Collaborate with and support Pilot’s new store project management and legal team throughout the land entitlement, permitting and acquisition-closing process for new development opportunities.

  6. Communicate project status by weekly reports as well as regular verbal updates to appropriate internal and external parties/stakeholders

  7. Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level

  8. Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or ten years’ real estate experience required

  • Minimum seven years’ retail real estate acquisition experience required

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

  • Solid understanding of business principles

  • Advanced knowledge of site drawings, plats, federal/state/ municipal codes and requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals

  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and manage multiple projects successfully

  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and follow through

  • Ability to work and meet goals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to represent the company in a professional manner

  • Effective problem solving and situation analysis skills

  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and with a team

  • Travel required more than 50%

  • General office work requiring sitting or standing for long periods of time including on planes and in automobiles

  • Stoop, bend, twist, and reach
